BDNH is bound by the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988. In Victoria privacy of health information is also protected by Health Records Act. All staff are required to maintain the confidentiality of your personal information in accordance with these laws.
BDNH staff will only collect your relevant health information which is used as the basis for planning your care and treatment. This information is stored securely in both paper format and electronically and is only accessible to authorised BDNH staff.
Individuals have the right to seek access to health information about them, and to correct it if is inaccurate, incompletes. misleading or not up to date. Access can be arranged under Freedom of Information by contacting reception. BDNH reserves the right to charge a fee for searching and providing access to your information.
